Chapter 26

My dark demon slammed his lips against mine. Hard and demanding, he kissed me with a dizzying passion. With all the ferocity I’d come to expect from him in the short time I’d known him.

He pulled back, just enough to murmur against my aching lips, “I’m going to take you against the wall now, little mouse. And you’re going to scream for me.”

I jolted against him, his words shocking a bolt of pure lust through me. Was I really going to let a demon fuck me in public? In an alleyway in the dead of night? Right next to a hunter he’d knocked out, while he was still covered in blood? I supposed, with Rex, he was covered in blood more often than not.

Before I could process what was happening, he spun me away from him, shoving me up against the solid bricks. My palms slapped against the rough surface as my face collided with the back of his warm hand. He slipped it out quickly, leaving my cheek pressed to the cold wall instead.

My chest heaved, faintly scraping my nipples against the brick even through my clothes. I was already panting. What did that say about me?

A desperate sense of anticipation stretched out every second as I waited for his next move.

Claws pricked my neck as Rex gripped my nape roughly. His other hand snaked under my top, pulling the gun from the small of my back and the knife sheathed at my hip. I didn’t see where he put them, but I didn’t need weapons right now. Not when I had all that barely leashed violence behind me.

Heat engulfed my back as he pressed against me in full, sharply contrasting the chill seeping into my front. The electrifying scents of smoke and ginger wrapped around me, only ratcheting up my desire as a hard length prodded the middle of my back in sensual threat. I already knew how impressively well endowed he was, and I couldn’t deny a part of me had been obsessing about how those strange, flexible bristles might feel inside me.

“Rex,” I groaned, squirming against his immoveable hold.

Even I couldn’t tell if I was trying to get away or even closer.

“Yes, witch?” Rex purred in my ear, his forked tongue flicking out to trace the shell. “Tell your demon what you need. Your wish is my command.”

I could hear the smirk in his voice, but with my cheek against the bricks, I could only see the edge of one dark spiralling horn and an even darker eye in my periphery.

I snorted. “Is it? You’ve not been a particularly obedient demon so far.”

He chuckled, rich and deep. “Maybe you’ve tamed me, little mouse. Maybe I’m a whole new demon. Just for you.”

I didn’t want a new demon. I wanted Rex. With his fiery eyes and smoky chuckle, with his irreverent humour and violent tendencies, with his hidden, caring side and unfounded belief in me.

“Rex.” His name sounded like a plea on my lips. I had no clue what I was begging for.
